What is Depression?

Depression is a mood disorder that causes feelings of sadness or a loss of interest in activities an individual would typically enjoy. Depression affects how an individual thinks, feels, and acts in everyday activities.

Symptoms of Depression?

Symptoms of depression must last for at least two weeks. Symptoms include:

  • Feelings of sadness
  • Loss of interest in activities previously enjoyed
  • Change in appetite
  • Extreme weight loss/ weight gain unrelated to dieting
  • Loss of energy/ fatigue
  • Trouble sleeping/ sleeping too much
  • Feelings of worthlessness
  • Thoughts of death or suicide
