What is trauma?

Trauma is an emotional response to a terrible event such as a natural disaster or a physical incident. Typically, individuals experience shock and denial immediately after the event has happened. Long term traumatic reactions include flashbacks, distancing themselves from relationships, or unpredictable emotional outbreaks. Many individuals have issues moving past this traumatic event.

What is Childhood Trauma?

Childhood trauma refers to traumatic events that take place during one’s childhood primarily by their caretakers. Such traumatic events may include physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect or psychological and emotional abuse.
